We will meet at the Kasilof State Recreation Area, located at the corner of Sterling Highway and Spetz Ave, approximately 12 miles south of Soldotna, AK
You'll receive a safety briefing on the boat and equipment as well as waders, boots, rods and reels.
From there we'll climb aboard a 5 person drift boat into the glacial aqua blue waters of the Kasilof River. We'll be targeting some of the worlds largest salmon during the trip. We'll will target Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, or King Salmo
n depending upon which species is coming up the river that day.
There are 17 miles of river to explore. The headwaters of the Kasilof begin at Tustamena Lake which is the 8th largest lake in Alaska.
Throughout the day we'll discuss the ecology of the river, the critical habitat and how salmon use it, salmon behavior, specifics of spawning. We'll clean your fish for you and teach you how to do it and well as discuss all the great recipes you could make!
These trips are full-day trips and take between 7 and 8 hours.
