Printmaking at a fine art gallery in Santa Fe
Block printing is a popular printmaking technique that originated in China more than a thousand years ago. Traditionally, the artist carved an image in relief onto a block of wood, producing a “stamp” that could be painted with ink and pressed onto silk to produce a print. Today, printmakers still use blocks of wood, but sponges, foam, and linoleum are also popular materials for both hobby crafters and professional artists. Your original designs can be printed on paper, clothing, and other fabrics.
This workshop will be using linoleum to carve your image to use as your block for your nontoxic, water-based ink prints.
WORKSHOP INCLUDES:
Introduction to block printmaking and detailed instruction by Master Artist and Printmaker, John Hogan.
All materials, including paper, ink, carving tools, ink applicators, linoleum blocks
Light refreshments
Please bring a sack lunch, your favorite water bottle and a simple image that you would like to turn into a print. Hats & sunscreen are recommended as most of the class will be outside where you can gaze at the beautiful views and get inspired while you carve your image to print.

Nature Writing Workshop with Taos Author
Nature Writing is a way to tune in more deeply with our self, the environment, and our connection with nature. Taos has a rich literary history of authors from around the world who found creative inspiration in our beautiful and unique surroundings, including D.H. Lawrence, Aldo Leopold and Willa Cather. My class will teach you my unique method of generating inspired writing, which includes guided meditation, creative visualization and experiencing nature firsthand.
We will meet at the lush and beautiful Fred Baca Park early in the morning and begin with an orientation where I will guide you to create your own personal intention for the day. After a guided meditation to ground and center, we might take a mindful walk along a nature trail (less than a mile on a flat path), allowing time and space to open all our senses to the natural world around us.
Following the walk, we will gather in the shade to write. I will discuss the craft of nature writing to give you tools to work with and I will read from some of my favorite nature writers. Writing exercises are interspersed with short guided meditations to bring us back to our bodies and back to nature. All writing is stream-of-consciousness and free of judgement. No writing experience needed, only an open mind and the desire to create.
Contact me to book additional dates/times or if you are interested in yoga or Reiki session.

Explore Santa Fe's Historic Railyard
On this 90-minute walking tour, we’ll make our way along
the historic railroad tracks, sidings, and warehouses as we explore how the railroad changed Santa Fe when it arrived in 1880 - and how this vibrant arts and historic district has become Santa Fe's "living room."
We'll gather under the Railyard's 40,000-gallon water tower to learn about how the railroad came to the Southwest and connected the region to the rest of the country - and opened it up to tourism. You'll learn about Prohibition-era brothels and the murder of the chief of police, and how the Railyard evolved from a transportation hub into an arts and cultural center.
Our walking route covers about 1 mile on sidewalks and features two historic depots, warehouses, a slough of railroad buildings dating to the 1880s along Guadalupe Street, the Santuario de Guadalupe - the oldest shrine in the United States - and the historic lumberyard of the Sanbusco center (now New Mexico School for the Arts), which supplied building materials for the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos during World War II.
Bring your camera and good walking shoes. The Railyard has considerable urban charm, numerous art galleries, restaurants, and hosts the city's farmers market.
This experience is great for groups, teams, and team-building!
Stained Glass Class -Hidden Santa Fe Gem
How often do you get to dabble in an art form that began in the 600's AD?
Our class invites participants into century's-old techniques to create glass suncatcher ornaments. You'll learn how to create a design that works for the medium of glass, score and break colorful or clear art glass, and utilize techniques developed by Tiffany and others to bind the glass pieces together into a finished suncatcher ornament to bring home with you. (And yes, you can take it on a plane.)
Masks and vaccines required
Absolute novices welcome!
Willa Cather's Santa Fe
On this 2.5-hour walking tour, we’ll explore how author Willa Cather was inspired to write her "best book" (her words), "Death Comes for the Archbishop" by retracing her steps through Santa Fe in 1925 and 1926.
We'll gather at the Plaza opposite La Fonda, where Cather and her partner Edith Lewis stayed during their visits. Cather has become an LGBTQ+ icon since the publication of her letters in 2011, and during this experience we will read from her letters, interviews, and articles, in addition to seeing historic footage of Santa Fe.
Our walking route covers about 1.5 miles, mostly on sidewalks, but also climbs a hill to the Cross of the Martyrs with its outstanding view of the city below. During our time together, we'll explore aspects of the novel, such as Kit Carson, Padre Antonio José Martínez, and of course Archbishop Jean-Baptiste Lamy, New Mexico's first Catholic archbishop and the real-life inspiration for the fictional Bishop Latour in Cather's book. We will learn about Sister Blandina Segale who helped set up a hospital in Lamy's house, and visit the last remnant of Lamy's six-acre garden behind the St. Francis Cathedral in the peaceful Stations of the Cross Prayer Garden.
Whether you are a local or a visitor, you will see Santa Fe in an entirely different light. And you may well find yourself part of the community known as "Cather People."
Mayhem and Moonshine in Prohibition-era in Santa Fe
On this 2.5-hour walking tour, we’ll explore Santa Fe's Prohibition past when liquor was outlawed but citizens continued to bootleg and imbibe during the "noble experiment" of 1920 - 1933.
We'll gather in front of the federal district court house to learn about how the temperance movement tried (and failed) to turn New Mexico dry. We'll learn about bootleggers such as Jim Lopez and Ramon Jimenez, federal judge Colin Neblett who nearly single-handedly handled the massive volumes of Volstead Act violations, Witter "Hal" Bynner, who was Santa Fe's Jay Gatsby, famous artists who dabbled in moonshine such as Will Shuster and Gus Baumann, brothel madame Inez Mullarkey, and a deadly shootout between two police officers at a speakeasy.
Our walking route covers about 1.5 miles, mostly on sidewalks, and our route ends in the Railyard. Along the way, participants will read contemporary accounts from the Prohibition-era.
A post-tour happy hour will take place at Santa Fe Spirits' tasting room (cash bar; drinks not included in tour price, but all-day discount applies for Prohibition in Santa Fe participants).
This experience is great for groups, teams, and team-building!
Whether you are a local or a visitor, you will see Santa Fe in an entirely different ligh
Experience the Horse-Human Connection
Discover the authenticity of the ancient horse/human partnership. This experience gives the opportunity to delve into the emotionally sensitive, empathetic nature of the horse-beyond the horseback ride. In this experience, we'll observe herd behavior; horse personalities; learn basic horse communication; participate in interactive empathy exercises about the use of the halter and lead rope as it relates to horse communication; intentional focus; then, implement the combination of these processes as you work with the haltered horse on lead rope; and finally, experience authentic partnership-relationship with the horse without lead ropes. The unbridled, reflective relationship-you can do this!
Through these graduated steps, you will discover physical listening skills, the power of observation, balance between predatory and prey nature, coherence, and relationship insights. Ultimately, the biggest take away in this event can be the unveiling of powerful insights about yourself. This experience can be tailored to fit your date & preferences individually or as a group from age 5 to adult; individuals; families; retreats; and business development.
Other things to note
If you don't see a date and time which works for you, please message me your alternate choices.

Tour a Sustainable Living Center
Come to our living laboratory for sustainable systems, and get a personalized tour. I can show you how our natural buildings were created with local and salvaged materials. I can explain how the 3 different hand built passive solar water heaters work, as well as the solar design of the buildings and other appropriate technologies. See our rainwater systems. We live here completely on rainwater, there is no well. I will show you our gardens and greenhouses that rely on the rainwater as well. Our site is always in progress. It's rustic, hand built, and saturated in intentional design. We will spend an hour touring and sharing models for sustainable living. I'd love to hear about your own sustainable projects as well. It's always fun brainstorming. I have designed all the systems on site and spent the last 15 years living with them and refining them. We start in the outdoor community kitchen and wander through the passive solar earthbag hybrid house that we built for ourselves. Access to the inside of the small strawbale cottages is variable as we may be hosting students and residents.
Other things to note
Remember it's a mile and a half down a bumpy dirt road to get to our site. 4wd or high clearance is preferred but usually not absolutely necessary. Stay in touch with us about wet road conditions.
